Maui Metric Century

Maui Metric Century

The West Maui Metric Century Ride is being sponsored by the Maui Bicycle Club, Maui’s oldest active bicycle club.  A metric century ride is an opportunity for cyclists to test their fitness on a measured course of 100 kilometers and 50 kilometers. All rides begin and end at the Haycraft Park located at the south end of Hauoli Road in Maalaea. Please park along the side of Hauoli Road as Haycraft Park parking is limited. Carpooling is encouraged! There will be two (2) separate start times: 100 km ride at 6:30am and 50 km ride at 8:30am.

62 Mile Ride including approximately  4000 Feet of climbing

From the Haycraft Park parking lot, all riders will proceed down Hauoli Street to Maalaea Road. They will turn right onto Maalaea Road to turn left onto Kapoli Street and head toward the traffic light at the intersection of Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30). Riders will then proceed left onto Honoapiilani Highway with the green signal and continue west toward Lahaina.

50km riders will proceed to Lahaina and turn around at the entrance to Kaanapali and proceed back toward the Pali and Maalaea. Once back in Maalaea riders will turn right onto Kapoli Street. They will then turn right down Maalaea Road and left onto Hauoli Street and proceed back to Haycraft Park. 

100km riders will continue past Lahaina onto Kaanapali, Honokawai, Napili and Kapalua. Past Kapalua, riders will pass through the Honokahau Valley area and proceed onward to Kahakuloa Village. Past Kahakuloa, 100km riders will then pass through Waihee and proceed toward Happy Valley on Kahekili Hwy (330), head up on North Market St., turn right onto Vineyard St. and then turn left onto High St where they will pass back through Wailuku, Waikapu and back towards Maalaea. Riders will have to cross Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30) and proceed onto Maalaea Road. Riders will then turn left onto Hauoli Street and continue back to Haycraft Park.   

Aid stations will be located at: 50km turn-around at the entrance to Kaanapali and at the Lorain's Shave Ice (down the driveway) in Kahakaloa  If needed, refreshments and other items can also be found at shops in Olowalu, Lahaina, Kaanapali, Napili and Wailuku. West Maui Cycles will also be open at 10:00am if you need any bicycle related items.

A sag vehicle, equipped with a radio, first aid, water, food, and mechanical help will be cruising the course during the ride and will do a final sweep of the course at the end of the day to assist riders. 

Please familiarize yourself with the course prior to the ride.  All riders MUST wear helmets at all times and are advised that this is an open course with no traffic closures.  All riders MUST also sign waiver before ride. All traffic laws and rules must be obeyed!
